This Ford Style Mini-Starter is an “Upgrade” for most applications prior to or near 1993
At only 8.5lbs (vs. the 18 lbs stock field wound starter in those early years) it often reduces weight almost 50% and requires less cranking amps. In the vehicles where it is a direct replacement there are no changes or modifications needed.
Because of it’s very small size it potentially increases header clearance and reduces the effects of “hot start”. This starter works well on higher compression engines and is in use with customers on 12.0:1 compression applications
Includes the conversion wire kit for “Upgrade Applications” and for “Direct Replacement” applications this kit is included but not used. This unit is smaller than the early starters and the same size but stronger output compared to the newer (early 1990s') starters.
