And our predictions were right — almost. The 2020 GT500 will produce an insane 760 horsepower. For those keeping track, that makes it the most powerful factory-produced car ever built by Ford itself. And you can bet your ass we’ll have some parts to push that puppy even harder as soon as we can. Yeah, this Mustang is gonna have some sting. In addition to 760 horsepower, the 2020 GT500 will pump out 625 lb-ft of torque. Hot damn — this thing is a beast in both looks and specs. Ford is touting how powerful this Mustang is while still being street-legal, but you know we can’t wait to make it street-Lethal so you can tear up the strip or track. We’ve been following its development since the very beginning, and you can read all of our 2020 Shelby GT500 updates to see how far we’ve come!
Yes, the name of this Mustang’s engine is to die for. The supercharged 5.2L cross-plane crank V8, known as The Predator, is made of high-quality aluminum alloy. The stock 2020 GT500 specs will include:
As a great man once said, "I live my life a quarter-mile at a time." Well, with the 2020 Shelby GT500, you'll be able to live a quarter-mile pretty fast — under eleven seconds to be exact. The Predator has plenty of power, and the rest of the car can back it up.
According to Ford, that's the case, at least when considering stock Mustangs. The efficient front splitter, belly pan with reverse wing, 6.2 square ft. hood vent and optional side splitters are highly effective at channeling airflow, leading to a 50% increase over the Shelby GT350. The 2020 GT500's aerodynamic design also pushes it toward having the fastest acceleration, with plenty of cooling as well. The cooling system, including six heat exchangers (you read that right), can extract up to 230KW of heat from the supercharged Predator engine.
While the optional Carbon Track Package (which looks awesome) will give you some significant upgrades, at Lethal Performance, we always want more. More power. More speed. More ass-kicking. As soon as performance parts are available for the 2020 GT500, you know we’ll have them. We especially can’t wait to see what Whipple Superchargers has cooked up for this monster. Keep checking back here to see what we can get our hands on!
