MRT 2015-2018 Mustang No-Drill Hood Strut Kit

Product Review (submitted on May 24, 2015):
This is the third Mustang I have installed hood struts on, but the first time I have used MRT. In the past I had used Redline Tuning. On the first car, I had no problems and they worked great. On the second car, I had a drill bit walk on me when trying to install one of the brackets. This caused the bracket to be installed out of place and one of the struts to bend; I also had rust problems where the bracket installed in spite of painting over the drilled hole before completing the installation. After that I was ready to try something else, and MRT was appealing for the no-drill aspect of their kit.

I decided to get a custom paint color to match the color of my car, and I am so glad I did. The paint quality on the brackets was perfect, and I feel like it makes the kit look more like an OEM installation over plain black brackets. I would highly recommend it, it's worth the extra money. The powder coating on the struts had some minor flaws, but nothing that would compromise the protective properties of the coating.

Installation was very easy. It took me about half an hour, mostly to get over my anxiety of taking a wrench to factory-painted bolts; It would probably take 10 minutes or less without anxiety. My only complaint is the passenger side hood bracket covers the hole for the water line retaining clip feeding the windshield washer fluid nozzles. Without doing anything, the line hangs very loosely. I ended up zip-tying mine in place, but I worry about long-term paint damage from the zip tie vibrating against the painted bracket.

Functionally, the kit works great. Overall, I would give it a 4 out of 5, docking it just for the displacement of the windshield washer fluid line. I would buy again in the future.
