Mustang Turbo Kit for V8 Motors

When people think of the legendary Ford Mustang it's the V8-powered Mustang GT that immediately springs to mind. The deep, throaty rumble from the V8 motor is the cornerstone of American muscle car enthusiasm. Whether you're talking about the first 289-cubic-inch engine on the 1965 Mustang or the current 5.0-liter Coyote, car guys and gals have been obsessed with wringing more power from their beloved V8 for generations.

Adding a Mustang turbo kit to that V8 will do nothing but make your life even more enjoyable. Serious power gains are to be had when you add a Mustang GT turbocharger.

And the GT isn't the only V8-powered Mustang that can get a swift kick in the pants from a forced-air induction boost. We have 2015-2022 Shelby GT350 turbochargers and Shelby GT500 turbocharger kits as well that make these monsters rival supercars across the globe.

How Much Power Does a Turbo Kit for a Mustang Add?

The first thing people want to know is, "How much horsepower can I get from a Mustang turbocharger?" Well, the answer isn't that easy.

Back in 2020, Motortrend Magazine built a 1,000-HP, fully street-legal turbocharged Mustang after dropping a 5.0 Coyote motor into a 2011 GT. But the turbo was merely a part of this overall build – they weren't going to get to four-digit horsepower without it, but they weren't going to get there with just a turbo kit alone, either.

Conservative figures say a Ford Mustang turbo kit will add upwards of 50% horsepower. But that number can be much higher (or even lower) depending on the amount of boost the turbo kit is set to provide. Remember: the more power your engine creates means you'll need to add other performance mods to support it.

Mustang Turbocharger Bolsters the Ford EcoBoost V6

You don't need a big, bad V8 if you want a turbo kit for your Ford Mustang. In fact, Ford already sells a turbocharged Mustang powered by the V6 EcoBoost motor.

Many enthusiasts swear by the performance they get from their turbo V6. The smaller engine is lighter, which can be a competitive advantage when moving quickly from one place to another, especially if there are turns involved.

The Mustang turbocharger on the EcoBoost is pretty cool right off the showroom floor, but, of course, we're not satisfied with that (and neither should you be.) We've got upgrade kits and accessories for all versions of the EcoBoost V6, so when you're ready to make that mini-pony really run, hit us up!
