2011-2014 Ford Mustang GT Parts and Accessories

The 2011-2012 cars are rated at 412 horsepower and 390 lb-ft from the 5.0L Coyote. For 2013-2014 Ford bumped it to 420 horsepower with the same 390 lb-ft. Both are Gen 1 Coyotes and share the same core build path.

A custom tune paired with an off-road mid-pipe. On our own 2011 GT that combination went from 363rwhp to 377rwhp and took the car from a 12.79 to a 12.35 in the quarter. Add a cold air intake and it made 401rwhp — 37 more than stock with the engine untouched.

More than most people expect. Our 2011 GT made 695rwhp on the factory long block with a Whipple 2.9L, long tubes and a return-style fuel system, and the dyno graph was still climbing at 7,600 rpm. The caveat is that the factory oil pump gears and crank sprocket are powdered metal — replace those before you add boost.

The gearbox itself is tougher than its reputation, but the factory clutch and the shift mechanism are the weak points. On our 2011 GT the clutch pedal stuck to the floor on the 2-3 shift three passes in a row and ended the session. A McLeod RXT twin disc fixed it. If you are going past roughly 600rwhp or drag racing regularly, a built box from Calimer is the durable answer.

The Boss uses the Road Runner version of the 5.0L — CNC-ported heads, a different intake manifold and 444 horsepower — plus its own suspension, exhaust and gearing. Most GT parts fit, but intake manifold and exhaust parts often do not, because the Boss manifold is part of what makes it a Boss. Our own 2012 Boss made 839rwhp with a Vortech, chosen specifically because a centrifugal blower lets you keep that manifold.
