The McLeod RXT: Street Manners from a 1000HP Track-Friendly Clutch

Whether you have a 700rwhp Mustang GT with a Stage 1 Whipple supercharger or a 980rwhp GT with a ton of mods, if you want to race it at the track and have a clutch that can handle it, take a look at the McLeod RXT twin-disc clutch kit: a 1000hp-capable clutch with excellent drivability.

McLeod RXT twin-disc clutch kit

Intended for the high-horsepower street/strip fan, the McLeod RXT Street twin-disc clutch kit handles 1000hp and stays streetable. Ceramic-lined clutch discs provide smooth engagement with soft pedal effort, making this kit ideal for the street/strip performance enthusiast.

The McLeod twin-disc RST, RXT, and RXT1200 clutch kits all use a 9.687-inch diameter clutch, with the difference being the clutch disc material. That smaller diameter requires less diaphragm pressure, which gives the system an easier pedal, similar to stock. After install, customers have said "something's wrong with my clutch, it's too easy." Nope, it is designed that way.

McLeod RXT clutch discs with segmented pucks

McLeod RXT clutch discs feature segmented pucks that let heat escape, improving the longevity and performance of your clutch.

We have run a McLeod RXT in quite a few of our Lethal Performance project vehicles and they have all taken abuse on the street and the drag strip. Yes, even our stock MT-82s held up.

A Genuinely Streetable Twin-Disc

The McLeod RXT twin-disc is a very streetable clutch. While the on/off engagement does not have as much slip as OEM, it still offers a smooth pedal effort while supporting your high-horsepower build. If you like more slip in your engagement, McLeod also offers the RXT as a sprung hub design for some applications. The sprung hub dampens driveline vibrations and engages more smoothly than the solid hub setups (it is not as grabby).

The McLeod RXT is available for a variety of applications, including Mustang GT, Cobra, and Shelby GT500. Browse our McLeod lineup below, or give us a shout to go over which RXT twin-disc setup is right for your build.
