Whipple Crusher Induction System for S650 Mustang

The Most Advanced S650 Intake Kit

This isn't just another cold air intake. It's a full-package performance upgrade developed by the same team behind Whipple's 1,300+ hp supercharger systems. Designed specifically for naturally aspirated Coyote-powered S650 Mustangs, the Crusher Induction System paired with RTD tuning is a high-quality, performance-backed cold air intake kit that delivers noticeable power gains, enhanced induction sound, and greater driving engagement for your 2024-2026 Mustang GT or Dark Horse, all while retaining reliability and factory fit. With Whipple's calibration, you'll also get a higher RPM limit for an extended powerband and improved transmission shift points for a much better driving experience.

Installation Guide

Thanks to Whipple's expertise and quality, installation is straightforward. With all the necessary components included, high-flow filters, MAF housings, intake tubes, and air boxes, you can install this kit in 30 minutes to an hour depending on skill level and tools.

Step 1: Remove the Stock Intake

Using a 7mm socket and ratchet, loosen the two clamps holding each intake tube to the throttle body. Disconnect both MAF sensor harnesses and PCV hoses on each side. Remove the intake box lids by unclipping the two clips per side and set aside. Remove the 10mm bolt on each side holding the MAF housing in place and gently remove the entire intake tube (set it aside; you'll swap the stock MAF harness onto the new Whipple housings). Remove the remaining stock air box with a 10mm socket and extension. On the passenger side, unclip the relay on the left of the fuse box and set aside. Remove both airboxes, keeping the small inlet pieces on the front of each, which will be reused on the Whipple boxes.

Step 2: Install the Whipple Air Boxes

With the stock inlet pieces installed on the car, slide the Whipple air boxes into their location and secure using the stock hardware, making sure they seat properly into the inlet pieces. Place the Whipple high-flow filters into the air boxes with the opening facing the side opening of the box. Install the provided MAF housing mounting brackets and transfer the stock hardware onto the MAF housings and bracket in the same order as the stock configuration.

Step 3: Install the MAF Housings

Before installing the Whipple MAF housings, use a T15 torx bit to remove the stock MAF sensors from the stock intake tubes and transfer them to the Whipple housings. Use Whipple's supplied hardware and make sure the sensors face the correct direction on the correct tube. Install the housings into the air boxes, ensuring the filters slip correctly onto the end of each housing. With the housing in the correct orientation (sensor facing the engine), tighten the filter clamp and secure the housing with the stock hardware.

Step 4: Install the Crusher Tubes and Air Box Seal

Install the Crusher intake tube with the supplied worm clamps, MAF-housing end first, then the throttle-body end, and tighten with an 8mm socket and ratchet. Reinstall the PCV fittings using the provided adapters and reconnect the MAF sensor harnesses. Confirm all six clamps are tight, along with each 10mm bolt securing the air boxes and MAF housings. Finally, press the provided seal onto the edge of each air box until fully covered, and trim any excess material.

Dyno Results

Overall, we were impressed with how well this intake kit performed, showing immediate power gains over the stock intake and delivering pretty much exactly what Whipple claimed. With the custom tune installed alongside the Crusher system, we saw the expected power gains, though torque came in a touch low, mainly because the ECU's octane re-learn hadn't fully adapted from the freshly flashed tune. As the car adjusts to conditions and fuel, those results will climb and stabilize.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will this kit work on supercharged applications?

No. This kit is designed specifically for naturally aspirated applications only.

Does this intake kit require custom tuning?

No. You can run it on the stock tune and still see performance improvements with no check engine lights or issues. That said, to get the full benefit we recommend pairing it with Whipple's custom tune.

Will this kit work on my EcoBoost Mustang?

No. This kit is made specifically for the 2024-2026 Mustang GT and Dark Horse with the 5.0L V8.

Do I need to run premium 91 or 93 octane with this kit?

It's highly recommended but not required. Whipple's tune uses the S650's octane re-learn feature to run safely regardless of octane, but you'll see the best gains with higher-octane, better-quality fuel.
