Thermal R&D Cat-Back Exhaust for the 2021-2025 F-150 5.0L

Overview

Thermal R&D's Cat-Back for the 2021+ Ford F-150 5.0L V8 is built to improve sound and flow. It uses T304 stainless with 3-inch mandrel-bent tubing for durability and flow, and a three-chamber Helmholtz muffler that eliminates cabin drone for a deep, aggressive note that stays comfortable on the highway. It comes in single or dual-tip configurations with polished or black finishes, and in fitments for Single Cab, Super Cab, and Super Crew with varying bed lengths. Backed by a lifetime warranty and made in the USA.

Installation Guide

The bolt-on design needs no cutting or welding, so you can install just about anywhere, though a lift makes alignment easier.

  1. Remove the stock exhaust. Loosen the two front flange bolts and the factory clamp at the over-axle tube, rotate the front resonator section clockwise to release it, remove the OE hangers, then support and drop the OEM system.
  2. Install the Thermal system. Start with the flanged inlet section and secure with the original bolts, then clamp the mid section to the inlet, the axle tube to the mid section (into the factory hanger), and the rear merge assembly to the axle tube with a 3-inch band clamp.
  3. Install the tips to the outlet with the provided band clamps once everything is aligned.
  4. Final adjustments. Confirm clearance from the body and suspension, then torque all clamps to at least 60 ft-lbs.

FAQ

Does Thermal have an exhaust for my 2021-2025 F-150 EcoBoost?

This system shows fitment for the 5.0L V8, but Thermal also makes systems for 2015-2020 F-150 with the 2.7L and 3.5L EcoBoost.

Does it exit before the rear tire?

No. It exits behind the rear tire like the OEM system, and it is the only exit option available.

Will it fit all trim levels?

It fits 5.0L V8 trucks, but on select trims with dual-exit tips and bumper cutouts (Tremor, Limited, Platinum) it will no longer route out under the bumper.

Will it work with long-tube headers?

Yes, as long as the headers connect at the factory connection point to the cat-back.
