The Maximum Motorsports adjustable rear swaybar lets you fine-tune your Mustang's handling balance. A wide choice of bar sizes, plus four adjustment positions on each bar, covers virtually any situation, from softer than a stock Fox V8 swaybar to 6 times stiffer than the stiffest solid-axle swaybar Ford ever offered on a 1979-2004 Mustang.
Installation style
-
Bolt-in: chassis brackets bolt to the rear subframe; requires drilling holes (a right-angle drill helps on 1996-2004 cars).
-
Weld-in: quicker to install with lighter, cleaner brackets, but requires a MIG or TIG machine and a skilled welder.
- The axle brackets of both versions bolt to the axle housing; no welding on the axle housing.
Choosing a bar sizeBar sizes are listed in order of increasing stiffness. In general, a stiffer rear swaybar reduces understeer and a softer one reduces oversteer. Each bar has four adjustment positions, with about a 9% change in wheel rate from one position to the next.
Fits 1979-2004 solid-axle Mustangs.
