The Problem
The strut mounts are responsible for being the primary reaction surface for
the shock absorber. Rubber strut mounts, in an effort to shiefd the driver
from the road, are soft and flexible. When the shock pushes against them,
they deform in an unpredictable manner, reducing the ability of the shock
absorber to control the suspension and keep the tires in contact with the
ground. The rubber mounts try to do the job of the shock absorber, but
without the tunability or precision of the shock, leading to unwanted
oscillations and delayed response times.
The Solution
The Spherical Upper Strut Mount provides the perfect reaction surface for
the shock. It increases the efficiency of the shock, keeping the tires more
firmly on the ground, allowing the shock to better control body roll, and
decreasing the reaction time between driver inputs and vehicle response.
The Spherical Strut Mount does not bind, reducing lateral forces and
friction in the shock. Simply put, it lets the shock be the shock.
Construction
The Spherical Upper Strut Mount is made from the highest grade materials.
The rubber damper replacement is made from high strength 7075 Aluminum and
finished with a black anodized coating for corrosion resistance. It
features an oversized PTFE-lined stainless steel racing spec spherical
bearing, with a 17-4 PH stainless steel adapter sleeve for ultimate
strength and reliability. It is fully rebuildable.
