Cooler engine compartment temperatures can result in higher density that results in more power and by covering up the turbine housing of the turbo reduces under hood temperature increasing life of hoses, harnesses and coolant bottle. Not only does a blanket help cool the engine compartment, it helps retain and normalize internal turbine housing temperatures for lower spool times.
