2021 Ford F150: 5.0L of fury

When we’re not roasting tires on a Mustang or chasing records in a GT500, you’ll find us doing truck things—our way. Meet our 2021 Ford F-150 Sport 5.0L: a four-wheel drive Coyote-powered hauler that went from grocery-getter to quarter-mile contender with a few well-placed mods and a lot of Lethal attitude. Originally picked up from Weikert Ford in Lake Wales, FL, this truck didn’t stay stock for long… because where’s the fun in that?

2021 Ford F150 | 10-second full size truck

We dropped it, boosted it, and hit the track. From the VA Specialties 3/5 lowering kit to a Gen 5 3.0L Whipple supercharger, this F-150 is running 10s—yes, in a full-size 4x4 truck. With key installs handled by the team at WBA Performance and custom support from brands like UPR and Stainless Works, this build shows how far the modern F-150 platform can go with ease when you treat it like a muscle car in disguise.

Once we had a baseline on the 2021 F-150, it didn’t take long for the wrenching to begin. This wasn’t going to be just another street truck with bolt-ons — we wanted a full-weight 4WD hauler that could hang with Mustangs at the dragstrip. Starting with the Whipple Gen 5 3.0L supercharger kit, we built a combo that was as consistent as it was potent.

Supporting mods weren’t just thrown in — they were chosen with track performance in mind. The VAS 3/5 drop kit gave the truck its stance, but more importantly, it delivered better weight transfer and stability under power. Weld Ventura drag wheels with Mickey Thompson rubber kept us planted, while the Circle D torque converter helped get all 600+ rear-wheel horsepower moving off the line with authority. A full Stainless Works exhaust system opened up flow and made sure this Coyote-powered sleeper sounded as mean as it runs.

The end result? A full-interior, full-weight, four-wheel-drive F-150 knocking down 10-second passes. It’s proof that the 10R80, when paired with the right components, is capable of some truly impressive work — and that a modern pickup can be just as deadly as its coupe cousins. Scroll on for the full mod list and our best times at the track.

Follow along as we transform our 2021 5.0L F-150 into a street truck with serious bite. This YouTube playlist documents every step—from bolting on the 3.0L Whipple supercharger to dialing in suspension, converter, exhaust, and wheels for 10-second quarter-mile performance. It’s a killer combo of daily drivability and dragstrip domination, built the Lethal way.

We’re running a Whipple Gen 5 3.0L supercharger paired with a 3.625" pulley initially, then upgraded to a 3.50" GripTec for more boost.

We installed a Circle D converter and McLeod steel/friction rebuild kit for the 10R80 to handle the added torque and reduce slip on launch.

A VA Specialties 3/5 lowering kit keeps the stance low while still retaining 4x4 function. It improves weight transfer and cuts drag at the track.

Weld wheels wrapped in Mickey Thompson ET Street R drag radials help get this 5,000+ lb truck out of the hole with 1.5x 60-foot times.

Yes — we’re using Stainless Works longtube headers and a full 3" exhaust system that opens up flow while letting the Whipple breathe up top.

From work truck to whippled warrior, our 2021 F-150 proves you don’t need a sports car to chase 10s—or turn heads doing it. This build wasn’t about following trends. It was about showing what happens when you take the heart of a Mustang, put it in a 4x4 chassis, and unleash it with the right combination of boost, tuning, and attitude. It’s fast, functional, and full of surprises.
