The 2021-2025 F-150 5.0L leaves the factory with 400 horsepower and 410 lb-ft, plenty to tow with and enough to surprise people at a light. But the Coyote in your truck is the same engine family we've run deep into the 8s, so there's a lot left on the table. This guide walks the full path: the bolt-ons worth doing, the ones that need a tune to matter, and the forced-induction jump that changes everything. We've sorted it the way we'd actually build a truck, cheapest and easiest first.
Cold Air Intakes
An intake is the first thing most people bolt on, and on the 5.0L it does two real jobs: it frees up the restrictive factory airbox and it makes the truck sound like it has a V8 again. On a stock, naturally aspirated truck the dyno gains are modest, think a handful of wheel horsepower and a little better throttle response, but the intake earns its keep later. The day you add a supercharger, a high-flow intake stops being a nice-to-have and becomes a requirement.

A cat-back is the most popular mod on the platform, and for good reason: it's the cheapest way to make your truck sound the way it should. From the cats back, you're swapping the restrictive factory muffler and tailpipes for mandrel-bent tubing that flows better and drops weight. Power gains on a stock 5.0L are small, usually single digits at the wheels, but the difference in tone, especially on a regular cab, is night and day.
The decision is really about sound and exit style. Touring systems stay civil for daily driving and towing, sport systems get loud and let you know the V8 is awake.

Long-Tube Headers
This is where naturally aspirated power actually shows up. Swapping the restrictive factory cast manifolds for 1-7/8-inch long-tube headers and a high-flow Y-pipe is the single biggest NA gain on the 5.0L, commonly 20 to 40 wheel horsepower once it's tuned, plus a meaner tone and quicker spool of revs. It's a bigger install than a cat-back, but the payoff is real.
You'll choose between catted and off-road (catless) Y-pipes. Catted keeps it street-and-emissions friendly; off-road is for closed-course use. Either way, headers require a tune to clear codes and capture the gains.

If you only do one thing to your F-150, make it a tune. A custom calibration is what unlocks the gains from every bolt-on you've added, it recalibrates fuel, spark, throttle, and the 10R80's shift logic for the way the truck is actually built. Even on a stock truck, a tune sharpens throttle response, firms up shifts, and can free up power the factory left buried for emissions and drivability.

Superchargers
This is the mod that changes the truck. A stock-bottom-end 5.0L will reliably support a properly built blower setup, and the jump is enormous, from ~330 rwhp stock to 650-750+ rwhp depending on the kit, the fuel, and the tune. It's also the most involved upgrade here, and the one where the supporting mods stop being optional. A supercharger needs the fuel system and tune to match (more on fuel below).
You've got two camps. Positive-displacement blowers (Whipple, Roush) sit on top of the engine and make instant, low-RPM torque, exactly what a truck wants. Centrifugal blowers (ProCharger, Vortech) mount up front, spin up with RPM, and are efficient up top. Both make big power; the right one depends on how you drive.

Fuel System
The factory returnless fuel system is fine for a stock or lightly modded truck. The moment you add a supercharger, or switch to E85, it becomes the weak link. Boost demands far more fuel volume than the factory single-pump setup can deliver, and running out of fuel under boost is how engines die. A dual-pump return-style system or a drop-in dual-pump fuel hat is the fix.
For most supercharged 5.0L trucks on pump gas, a dual-pump hat is the clean, bolt-in answer. If you're chasing big power or running E85, step up to a full return-style system with the volume to back it.
Match the fuel system to your power target and fuel: a dual-pump hat covers most blower builds on 93 octane, while E85 and 700+ horsepower setups want a return-style system with larger injectors and proper line sizing. Suspension & Lowering
Power is half the build, stance and handling are the other half. Dropping an F-150 a few inches transforms how it looks and how it drives, tightening up the body roll the factory dials in for ride comfort. A 3/5 drop (3 inches front, 5 inches rear) is the street-truck standard: aggressive rake without killing ride quality. If you're chasing the strip, the right setup also improves weight transfer for better launches.

Will these mods void my factory warranty?

If keeping full factory coverage matters to you, talk to your dealer before modifying, and consider mods that include their own warranty like the Roush supercharger system.
