Like a lot of you 2020+ GT500 owners, we love the carbon fiber on this platform.
We also think the factory Carbon Fiber Track Package is a little bit lacking. Carbon wheels, carbon dashboard, carbon rear spoiler. All good. But more is better.
Feeling the same? Good news. Between Ford Performance, Anderson Composites and our own carbon line, that is a fixable problem, and most of it goes on with hand tools in an afternoon.
Where the Factory Package Stops
Ford Performance teamed up with Anderson Composites, one of the best carbon fiber accessory manufacturers in the industry, and the result is a collection covering exactly the areas the factory package leaves alone: hood vent, decklid trim, bumper cover, side skirts, and a front splitter and splash guard.
We started at the back of our 2020 GT500 and worked forward.
Starting at the Rear
Two pieces went on the rear, and they sit at opposite ends of the difficulty scale.
Carbon Fiber Tail Light Bezels
- Under 10 minutes to install
- No tools required
- Weave matched near-perfectly to the Ford Performance carbon
This is the easiest carbon upgrade on the car and probably the highest visual return per minute spent. If you do one thing on this list, do this one.
Carbon Fiber Rear Decklid Trim Panel
- 30 to 45 minutes to install
- Requires a T25 Torx bit, 2.5mm Allen key, trim removal tool, and optionally some masking tape
- Includes the Cobra snake emblem
Weave matched to Ford Performance carbon
2015-2017 version also available
T25 Torx, 2.5mm Allen, trim tool
Cobra snake emblem included

The Carbon Fiber Hood Vent
This Ford Performance and Anderson Composites piece bolts directly into the OEM location, replacing the stock hood vent. The kit includes the vent in a gloss finish and a carbon fiber rain tray in matte.
- Roughly 30 minutes with simple hand tools
- Requires a T25 Torx bit, 10mm socket and a push-pin removal tool
- Ford Performance supplies clear, colour instructions
Bolts into the OEM location
Roughly 30 minutes
Vent only, no rain tray

Where Else to Take It
Each of these pieces works with the others to give the car the fuller carbon fiber treatment we think it should have had from the factory with the Carbon Fiber Track Pack box ticked.
If you want to keep going, our own DX Carbon line covers a lot of the same territory across the S550 and S650 platforms.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the factory Carbon Fiber Track Package actually include?
Carbon fiber wheels, a carbon dashboard and a carbon rear spoiler. It leaves the hood vent, decklid trim, bumper, side skirts and splitter in standard materials, which is what the parts here address.
How long does the hood vent take to install?
Roughly 30 minutes with simple hand tools. You need a T25 Torx bit, a 10mm socket and a push-pin removal tool.
Do the tail light bezels need tools?
No. They go on in under 10 minutes with no tools at all, which makes them the easiest carbon upgrade on the car.
What tools do I need for the decklid trim panel?
A T25 Torx bit, a 2.5mm Allen key and a trim removal tool. Masking tape is optional but helpful. Budget 30 to 45 minutes.
Does the aftermarket carbon match the factory weave?
The Ford Performance pieces are matched near-perfectly to the factory carbon, which is the main reason we went that route. The parts are designed to bolt into OEM mounting points as well.
Does the hood vent kit include the rain tray?
Yes. The vent comes in a gloss finish and the rain tray in matte, both carbon fiber.
What is the one install tip that matters most?
Cover the engine bay before you start the hood vent. Some of the fasteners you remove get reused, and dropping one into the bay turns a 30 minute job into a much longer one. The vent's own packing material covers the bay fender to fender.
Is Lethal Performance Carbon Fiber the same as DX Carbon?
Yes. Our carbon line was rebranded from Lethal Performance Carbon Fiber to DX Carbon. Same parts, new name.
