  1. Maximum Motorsports IRS Urethane Differential Bushings - MMIRSB-45
    $92.91

Prevent damage caused by wheel hopwith Maximum Motorsports differential bushings.

    • Urethane bushings prevent rear cover breakage caused by wheel hop.
    • Urethane retains low NVH levels acceptable for daily-driven Cobras.
    • Includes all 3 bushing sets: The 2 front sets and the critical rear bushing.
    • Includes MM-designed tool to easily remove the rear bushing.
    • Retains stock differential location and pinion angle.
    • Adjusting pinion angle may reduce driveline vibrations. MM aluminum mounts allow adjustment of pinion angle.

    Wheel Hop Breaks Parts

      • Wheel hop can break the rear differential cover.
      • Wheel hop causes violent movement of the differential.
      • Violent flopping around of the differential can break the differential cover, where it attaches to the rear mount.
      • Violent movement is allowed by the overly compliant stock rubber differential mounting bushings.
      • Stiffer bushings, whether urethane or aluminum, prevent the violent flopping around that breaks differential covers.

    • Unlike many others who offer only the front differential bushings, Maximum Motorsports took the time and effort to analyze the IRS system. The MM Engineering Team realized that all of the differential bushings must be replaced as a complete set.
    • The complete set includes the two front bushings and the essential single rear bushing.
    • If only the front bushings are replaced, and the original rubber rear bushing is left in place, a mismatch in the stiffness of the bushing materials will be created. The more rigid front bushings will deflect less, while the remaining rubber rear bushing will still deflect as much as ever.
    • Damage from wheel hop will still be possible because the rubber rear bushing will deflect and allow the differential to flop around.
    • The mismatch in bushing stiffness will increase the stress on the aluminum front mounting ears of the differential housing. The increased stress can lead to fatigue and stress cracking of the aluminum differential housing.

  3. Steeda IRS Subframe Bushings (1999-2004 Cobra) - 555-4016
    $79.95

    Steeda Cobra IRS Subframe Bushings 99/01 03/04 - 555-4016

Steeda IRS Subframe bushings improve handling, reduce wheel hop, and improve tire clearance on the 1999-2004 Mustang Cobra. The entire rear suspension of the Cobra is attached to a steel subframe, which in turn is attached to the car with just four rubber bushings. The rubber bushings deflect under load, leading to wheel hop and less predictable handling. Our polyurethane bushing kit substantially reduces unwanted subframe movement and wheel hop. You will notice an immediate improvement in car control after installing these bushings.

Steeda's Subframe bushing kit includes two other important features. First, we include the correct 14mm bolts to fit the car. The forward factory mounting points on the Cobra have 14mm holes but many cars were assembled from the factory with 12mm bolts. We provide new grade 10.9 nuts and bolts of the correct size. This ensures correct alignment of the subframe and prevents the bolts from shifting in the large 14mm holes. Second, Steeda subframe bushing kits include new rear bolts with a low profile round head to increase tire clearance. The low profile allows bigger tires to be installed and the rounded head prevents the tire from being torn by occasional contact with the bolt.

    Product Benefits
    • Improve vehicle handling
    • Reduce wheel hope

  6. Steeda Spherical Bearings for upper control arms at differential (1979-2004 Mustangs with 8.8 Rear) - 555-4103
    $139.95

Steeda Spherical Bearings for upper control arms at differential 79-04 8.8 axle - 555-4103

Steeda's 79-04 Mustang Billet Spherical Upper Control Arm Bearing for 8.8 Rear Ends and Diffs.

Have a high Horsepower Mustang? Trying to get the most traction with a factory style suspension? These Steeda Billet Spherical Upper Control Arm Bearings are what you need when trying to apply high horsepower to the back tires of your 1979-2004 Mustang. They have been proven in 7-second Mustangs cutting 1.1 sixty foot times!!!

The upper control arms are under a tremendous about of stress as their job is to try and lift the front of the car to transfer as much weight as possible to the back tires. The factory rubber and aftermarket urethane bushings will deflect and causea drastic change in pinion angle which isn't a desirable situation. Eliminate the deflection with Steeda's Billet Spherical Upper Control Arm Bearing. Made in house from 6061 Billet Aluminum these housings simply screw together once installed in the Ford 8.8. Billet Aluminum spacers are pressed into high-quality COM12 bearings. Finishing things off is a 360-degree spiral lock that secures the COM12 bearing in place. As with all Steeda made products, these are made in the USA and feature our industry-first Life Time Warranty.

    Product Benefits
    • Eliminate binding
    • Built for high-horsepower applications

  7. Maximum Motorsports 99-04 IRS Delrin Upper Control Arm Bushings - MMIRSB-2.1
    $219.00

Delrin upper control arm bushings for 1999-2004 Mustang Cobra IRS reduce wheel hop and improve handling.

Replaces the stock rubber bushings with non-deflecting Delrin to eliminate one of the causes of wheel hop, while also improving handling by maintaining dynamic alignment settings.

    Tools

Included are tools to make installation easy. You really don't want to try installing Delrin control arm bushings without the MM tools. The tools make installing Delrin much easier than installing urethane control arm bushings. These MM-designed tools are the ones that others copy.

    New design makes installation easier.

Contrary to claims made by a competing company, we found that the root cause of excessive play in the upper control arm bushings was not caused by wear of the Delrin bushing, but by improper installation of the shims used to locate the upper arm fore and aft. While we like the precise adjustment provided by the shims, it seems that the care needed for proper installation eluded some people. Our new design has no shims, eliminating any possibility of excessive fore/aft play caused by improper installation of the shims.

  8. Maximum Motorsports IRS Subframe Bushings - MMIRSU-1
    $89.97

    Maximum Motorsports IRS Subframe Bushings

Maximum Motorsports introduces a new product for IRS-equipped Mustangs: A Polyurethane IRS Subframe Bushing Kit. The polyurethane bushings in this kit are considerably less compliant than the stock rubber IRS subframe bushings. These stiffer bushings virtually eliminate displacement of the IRS subframe relative to the chassis. This reduces wheel hop during acceleration, braking and cornering. You'll feel a big improvement in your car's stability and predictability. Drivers have reported that the improvement is dramatic, similar to installing a Panhard Bar on a solid axle car. The polyurethane still provides very good noise isolation.

NOTE: It has been found that Ford had put the incorrect bolt in the front mounting holes for retaining the IRS subframe on some 2003 Cobras. The sleeve in the bushing and hole in the chassis are designed for a 14mm diameter bolt, however many cars had 12mm bolts installed incorrectly from the factory. If you have been noticing noise from the rear suspension, it may be caused by the subframe shifting due to insufficent retention with the smaller bolts. Verify the bolt size installed through the front IRS subframe mounts before ordering. If in doubt, or if you determine you need the larger bolts and corresponding nuts, the OEM replacements are available below. You will need two of each to do both sides.Learn More
  9. Maximum Motorsports IRS Urethane Rear Differential Bushing - MMIRSB-46
    $52.94

Maximum Motorsports IRS Urethane Rear Differential Bushing (Rear urethane bushing with removal tool)

    Rear Differential Bushing: MMIRSB-46

  10. For those who have replaced their front differential bushings with urethane, but still have the stock rubber rear bushing, we offer the rear bushing by itself.
  11. Includes the tool to easily remove the stock rubber bushing from its mounting bracket.

  12. Reduce wheel hop by installing stiffer differential mounting bushings. MM offers two types of differential bushings, urethane and aluminum. The urethane bushings are much stiffer than the original rubber, yet are still compliant enough to dampen NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness). The aluminum bushings allow no deflection at all, and therefore do more to reduce wheel hop. The aluminum bushings are designed to provide adjustment of the pinion angle. Properly setting the pinion angle helps keep driveline vibrations to a minimum.

Unlike many others who offer only the front differential bushings, Maximum Motorsports took the time and effort to actually analyze the IRS system. The MM Engineering Team realized that all of the differential bushings must be replaced as a set. The complete set includes the two front bushings and the essential single rear bushing. If only the front bushings are replaced, and the original rubber rear bushing is left in place, a mismatch will be created in the stiffness of the bushing materials. The more rigid front bushings will deflect less, while the remaining rubber rear bushing will still deflect as much as ever. This in turn will increase the stress on the aluminum front mounting ears of the differential housing. The increased stress can lead to fatigue and stress cracking of the aluminum differential housing. Wheel hop will still be prevalent because the rubber rear bushing will deflect and allow the differential to flop around.Learn More
