PCV Side Catch Can Kit
The PCV side of the crankcase ventilation system connects the crankcase to the intake manifold. Vacuum from the engine is constantly pulling contaminants out of the crankcase to be burned in the combustion process. This is the line that sees the most oil contamination, and a perfect place for a catch can.
The Radium PCV side catch can kit for the CTS-V (p/n 20-0562) mounts to the firewall on the passenger side of the engine bay as shown below. This engine does not use a true PCV valve and uses a small flow restrictor in the PCV vent line. This is not optimal for a performance engine.
The Radium catch can kit eliminates the restrictor and includes a new oil cap with a built-in fully functioning Radium PCV valve. This improves the drawing of fresh air through the engine for a cleaner crankcase. The oil fill neck is now a high-flow breather point for the crankcase. 3/8" hoses interface with Radium oil cap and intake manifold.
Crankcase Vent Side Catch Can Kit
Under normal conditions, the crankcase side of the ventilation system is the point where fresh air is drawn into the crankcase. However, under high engine loads, this becomes an exit point for crankcase pressure. When this happens, it is a good idea to have a catch can on the line to catch any oil blow-by that is coming out before it ends up in the air induction tube. The Radium catch can kit for the CCV side (p/n 20-0563) is an excellent bolt-in solution.
The kit includes a specially designed bracket that secures the catch can to the back of the supercharger, as shown in the above photo. The vents on the rocker covers are Y'ed together and route to the catch can inlet with 3/8" hose. The outlet of the catch can connects to the air intake pipe.
