Explorer ST Power Packages (2020–2024)

Don’t let the third-row fool you — the twin-turbo 3.0L EcoBoost in the Explorer ST is a monster waiting to be unleashed. Lethal Performance Power Packages for the 2020–2024 ST unlock true sleeper performance through staged upgrades that blend OEM reliability with dyno-proven muscle.

Stage Details

  • Stage 1: Cold air intake + RTD custom tune (80–100+ awhp gains)
  • Stage 2: Adds front-mount intercooler + downpipes
  • Stage 3: Adds high-pressure fuel pump for E30–E50 support

Stage 1 starts with a cold air intake and a custom calibration using our HP Tuners RTD device. Expect up to 80–100+ wheel horsepower gains on 93 octane alone — with a huge jump in torque and dramatically improved throttle response, all while keeping stock comfort and manners.

Stage 2 builds on that with a front-mount intercooler and high-flow downpipes. These upgrades maintain consistent power under heat and eliminate major factory restrictions, perfect for spirited street use or dragstrip runs.

Stage 3 completes the system with a high-pressure fuel pump, enabling more boost and ethanol flexibility (E30–E50 blends). This setup supports 500+ awhp with proper tuning and fuel — all from a 3-row SUV.

Frequently Asked Questions

With Stage 3 and proper fuel (E30–E50), Explorer STs regularly put down 480–520+ awhp. Stage 1 alone adds ~80–100whp with 93 octane. Every upgrade is dyno-tested for power and calibrated for safety, driveability, and daily use.

Absolutely. All tunes are built for factory-like manners during low-load and part-throttle driving. You’ll notice improved response, smoother shifts, and more torque everywhere. Higher stage builds do produce more heat, so consider catch cans and cooling upgrades if you're frequently aggressive with it.

Stage 1 and Stage 2 work great on 91 or 93 octane. Stage 3 is designed for E30–E50 ethanol blends, which allow higher boost and timing for max performance. You’ll need to run the proper fuel for your selected tune — and datalogging is recommended to verify ethanol content.

Yes — the Explorer ST's 10-speed automatic is robust, and our tuners adjust shift pressures, torque limits, and clutch engagement for improved performance. These calibrations preserve drivability while ensuring crisp shifts under load.

Stage 1 typically retains emissions compliance, as it uses stock catalytic converters and sensors. Stage 2 (downpipes) may not be emissions-legal in CARB states. Our tunes retain OBDII functionality and diagnostics unless a race-use calibration is explicitly requested.

Yes — the stock intercooler heat-soaks quickly, even with spirited street driving. The Stage 2 intercooler upgrade improves air density and helps retain consistent power on hot days or during repeated pulls. It’s a highly recommended upgrade for anyone serious about performance.

Yes. The RTD device stores your stock tune, and you can revert at any time. The process takes just a few minutes and doesn’t require re-locking or dealer intervention.

Explorer ST Power Packages give you the best of both worlds: comfort and speed. Whether you’re hauling kids, trailers, or tailgates, you’ll have the torque and tuning to embarrass sports cars while staying road-trip ready.
