UPR Products Catch Can for the 2020 Shelby GT500

LET THE MODS BEGIN!

Since we picked up our 2020 Shelby GT500, we've been so busy that unfortunately we haven't had time to go all "gung ho" with it... but now that 2020 is behind us, IT'S TIME.

While adding horsepower is really the best feeling, we also want to make sure that any parts or tunes we DO install are being used at their most efficient state. What's the good of a cold air intake if it's got a pool of oil & contaminates in it??

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN POOL OF OIL IN MY INTAKE?! THAT'S A THING?!?"

Yep, that's most definitely a thing thanks to the PCV system. That's where the UPR Products catch can comes in.

In basic terms, the catch can will "catch" the contaminants escaping your crankcase (want to know more? CLICK HERE). That's why the UPR Products Catch Can is one of the first mods we have done to our 2020 Shelby GT500.

Steve from UPR Products (aka @thecatchcanman) came over to our Lethal Performance HQ and helped us get their new 2020 Shelby GT500 catch can installed.

Check out the video:

Installation is fairly simple and can be done with basic hand tools in about 15 minutes.

Do you have a Ford Performance oil separator on the car? If so, it will need to be removed first. For a brief instructions on that, click here.

Beginning with the passenger side, disconnect the factory PCV hose from the supercharger to the cam cover. Once you've done that, install the supplied braided hoses onto the cam cover (this will be the hose with the check valve - ensure that the arrow on the check valve is pointing AWAY from the cam cover) and onto the supercharger.

Next, remove the (incredibly long) stud from the radiator shroud using a 5.5mm deep socket. This will be where the supplier UPR mounting bracket is installed.

Once you've installed the bracket, mount the UPR catch can onto the bracket with the billet UPR knob and connect the hoses to each side. Be sure all hose connections CLICK into place.

Next up is the driver's side, aka the "clean" side. Simply disconnect the factory PCV hose from the cam cover and click the UPR clean side can into it's place. Connect the UPR can using the factory supplied hoses and you are ready to move out.

We're now ready to MAKE SOME POWER!!

Do you have a Ford Performance oil separator installed on your 2020 Shelby GT500?

Removing it can be tricky but it can be done in roughly 30-45 minutes with a basic set of hand tools.

Here's a brief instruction on how to remove your Ford Performance oil separator:

Remove the PCV tube connecting the supercharger & top of the FP oil separator.

Remove the FP oil separator drain hose clamp and remove the hose (be careful, it may leak).

Disconnect the separator hose line from the cam cover.

Remove the bolt holding the FP separator can to the bracket, located on the bottom of the can towards the passenger side.

Slide the FP oil separator can forward on the bracket & remove it.

Remove all zip ties & any push pins holding them down.

Remove plastic protectors from studs above cam cover.

Remove (3) 8mm nuts from the studs.

Remove the oil separator bracket.

Once removed, your separator looks like this. You can sell it, or keep it to re-install/sell with the car later on.
