  1. J&M Mustang STREET Lower Control Arms (Black)
    $117.32
J&M 2011 Mustang STREET Lower Control Arms (Black)

Street: Poly Bushings on Both Ends

The control arm bushings found in the Mustang automobiles can have a significant impact on the vehicles ride, comfort, handling, acceleration, noise and vibration. When the car leans (i.e., rolls) in a turn, one side of the chassis moves upward relative to the rear axle, the other side moves downward, and the control arms must twist to allow for the axle to articulate. This causes the control arm bushings to bind. If this bind becomes excessive, it will raise the rear wheel rate and produce sudden, uncontrolled, undesirable changes in handling (e.g., snap oversteer).

Ford minimizes this suspension bind by using compliant rubber bushings in both lower control arms. These relatively "soft" bushings help accommodate the necessary motion of the control arms during body roll. However, the rubber bushings do not provide much in the way of forward and aft support, which can cause wheel hop during hard acceleration and braking.

It has become common practice to replace the stock rubber control arm bushings with solid or two piece polyurethane bushings to resolve the shortcomings of the soft rubber bushings. Hard polyurethane bushings eliminate wheel hop, reduce axle deflection, and improve rear straight line grip. However, the downside of common aftermarket bushings such as delrin, steel, stiffer rubber, solid or two piece polyurethane bushings is they prevent the necessary movement of the control arms during body roll, which in turn produces significant binding in the suspension when the vehicle is cornering. The polyurethane bushings also place unnecessary high stresses on the torque boxes, which are the attachment points for the control arms to the chassis. Standard aftermarket control arms do not allow for rotation of the control arm during cornering because of the stiffness of the bushings.

    The Solution:
J&M Products designed and built a tubular lower control arm which will eliminate the unwanted uncontrolled control arm flex. Round tubing is harder to work with but has many other advantages over square or rectangular tubing. It is stronger in bending, torsion, and also lighter than square or rectangular tubing.

J&M Products then designed the first offset lower control arm and solved the shortcomings of the factory rubber and other aftermarket polyurethane and stiffer rubber bushings. J&M Products accomplished this with their Patent Pending 3 piece Poly-Ball bushing combination. By spending countless hours looking and dissecting the geometry and the need of the rear suspension they have come out with bind-free bushings set up. J&M Products incorporates a very hard inner polyurethane ball which is surrounded by soft socket outer cups. This combination allows the bushing to articulate like a spherical bearing during cornering but the hard inner ball does not allow the bushing to deflect during acceleration giving you great traction during acceleration like solid bushings but remains completely bind free during cornering for great predictable traction in the corners. 3. J&M 05-2014 Mustang Double Adjustable Aluminum Lower Control Arms (Bare)
    $173.29

J&M Products Race Aluminum Rear Lower Control Arms for the 2005 and newer Mustang improve traction and handling by eliminating bushing compliance and correcting suspension geometry. Unlike our competitors who charge more and use low quality commercial grade 2 piece rod ends we use a Very High Precision PTFE Lined Spherical rod end that uses a very high strength heat treated alloy steel race with a PTFE liner for extra strength and life. The precision rod ends used gives precise axle control, eliminating the compliance that leads to wheel hop, while still allowing the rear suspension to articulate freely. J&M is also the first to incorporate offset bushings to make sure the correct suspension geometry is in place to guarantee correct bind free articulation. Our lightweight control arms weigh less than 2.5 pounds which make them almost 9 pounds lighter than the factory control arms. These control arms are designed for the race track and not recommended for street use.

    Features:
  4. On car adjustable for easy chassis setup
  5. Very high precision PTFE lined spherical rod end with heat treated alloy steel race
  6. Offset design for proper suspension geometry

  • J&M 05-2014 Mustang Bolt-In Lower Control Arm Relocation Brackets (Black)
    $154.35

J&M Products introduces its new Lower Control Arm (LCA) Relocation Brackets for the 2005-20014 Mustang including the Mustang GT500. These new relocation brackets part 23885 are CNC laser cut from 3/16” billet plate, cold rolled steel, pulse welded and incorporates advanced design features that assures a precise fit and maximum strength, with no welding or other modifications needed. Brackets are designed to increase bracket rigidity and eliminate the occurrences of stress cracking from bracket deflection caused by constant hard braking, cornering and acceleration.

LCA relocation brackets are a must for lowered vehicles, they are available with 2”, 2-3/4” or 3-1/2″ mounting hole locations for stock or lowered vehicles. Several available adjustments are incorporated in the design of the brackets that are utilized to properly locate upper and lower control arms for optimized suspension geometry to re-establish the instant center after lowering the body over the rear differential housing.

Multiple adjustment locations are available to optimize vehicle handling and traction, improve braking into corners and increase off the line traction for street, drag or road racing. Brackets come complete with upgraded hardware, spacers, installation instructions and are powdered coated for long lasting good looks and durability. Like all products manufactured by J&M Products the new brackets are Made in the USA and come with a lifetime warranty to the original purchaser.

    Product Features:
  • Allows adjustment for the loss in anti-squat caused from lowering your Mustang.
  • Ability to increase anti-squat drastically above the stock percentage.
  • Three control arm mounting locations allows fine tuning of your anti-squat percentage for better launches.
  • Superior design makes these extremely stiff with less deflection. Giving you better faster response during acceleration and cornering.
  • Compatible with stock-style rear swaybar and stock rear lower control arms.
  • Improved handling by reducing roll understeer on lowered cars.
  • Improves ride quality by allowing adjustment of the suspension geometry so that the rear tires move rearwards when going over bumps.
  • Maintains stock panhard rod location.
  • Bolt-In no welding or cutting required.
  • Includes all Grade 10.9 mounting hardware.
