This new bracket installs as a direct replacement for the stock upper control arm bracket found on all 2011 and newer Mustangs (see note below). It is made from high-grade laser cut steel that is CNC-bent and then precision-welded in a jig. The bracket is powdercoated for surface protection and includes an application-specific grade 8 front control arm bolt with matching hardware.
This bracket reduces the 'clunk' in the rear suspension sometimes felt by Mustang owners after high performance control arms have been installed. The 'clunk' is often the result of the loose fit between the factory's front control arm bolt and the factory upper control arm bracket. All Mustangs suffer from this loose fit, but the addition of high performance control arms with firmer bushings amplifies the noise. Our bracket addresses this problem with precise fitment of the bracket and the included heavy-duty bolt.
Our bracket also offers two front control arm mounting locations, one that approximates the stock location and a second, lower attachment point designed to to improve the car's 'instant center' upon launch. The lower attachment point also offers much-needed clearance between the car's floor pan and the control arm in lowered vehicles.
This bracket is a direct bolt-in that installs with no modifications. However, this bracket requires the use of a 2005-2010 upper control arm or aftermarket equivalent. It is not compatible with the stock 2011 upper control arm or any aftermarket upper control arm designed to fit the 2011 Mustang. We recommend our own 2005-2010 upper control arm, and offer the bracket and control arm in a kit under PN MUC2011.

The control arm is the same unit we offer for the 2005-2010 Mustangs, and this unit has been proven in both high-performance street applications and in serious competition. The control arm is assembled with a durable combination of polyurethane and Delrin bushings at the front attachment point, and it offers the unique benefit of a pivoting adjuster to prevent bind in the Mustang 3-link suspension.
The heavy-duty upper bracket is designed to install as a direct replacement for the original mounting bracket in 2011 and newer Mustangs, although it is configured to work with a 2005-2010 style upper control arm. The bracket is CNC-formed from high-grade steel, which is precision-welded in a fixture and then powdercoated for long lasting surface protection.
When installed together, this control arm and bracket will directly replace the OEM components and no modifications to the vehicle are necessary.

The Metco Motorsports upper control arm is comprised of a precision-machined aluminum block housing a threaded steel pinion, a heavy-duty zinc-plated adjuster, and a precision-welded and plated clevis. The combination of these premium components results in a control arm that can be installed as a direct replacement for the factory control arm, but offers the benefits of in-car adjustability, the firm response of the upgraded bushing, and an independently-verified 400% increase in strength.
The Metco control arm for the S197 Mustang incorporates a unique pivoting clevis necessary to avoid binding in the Mustang's 3-link suspension. A heavy-duty steel pivot mounts precisely in a Delrin insert to allow proper articulation without allowing unwanted movement.
A specific combination of Energy Suspension-brand polyurethane and Delrin bushings is included for the front pivot point to provide a ride quality befitting a high performance vehicle without the harshness of rod ends or heim joints.
The Metco control arm requires no disassembly for adjustment, and the user can even dial in the pinion angle with the vehicle's weight on the suspension. Prior to shipment, the arm is assembled to match the length of the stock control arm found on the 2005-2010 Mustang. No adjustment is required by the installer.

Note 1: The use of the Metco Heavy-Duty Upper Control Arm Bracket (MUB2005, also listed in this section) is highly recommended in applications with an aftermarket upper control arm. From the factory, the fitment between the front control arm bolt and the factory control arm bracket is very poor, and Mustang owners often complain of the resulting 'clunk' sound while driving. The addition of a high performance control arm with a firmer bushing amplifies the noise, so the use of the precise-fitting Metco bracket is highly recommended to eliminate the problem.
