    • The factory exhaust systems on most vehicles are designed to be high-volume and low cost. Mass-produced, compression bent OE exhaust systems are strictly utilitarian and do little for the flow and performance of a vehicle. Additionally, the factory exhaust is manufactured from a ferritic 409 grade stainless steel so low it is magnetic. T-304 is an austenitic steel alloy containing a composition of at least 8% nickel and 18% chromium. The 304 grade stainless is extremely durable in harsh environments and has excellent thermal kinetic properties. Mandrel bending is another important element in why aftermarket exhaust systems make more power than factory. The restrictive bends in OE systems create backpressure and restrictions in the exhaust and airflow thereby limiting the performance potential of the vehicle.
